About Us
Mortgage Consumer Advocates, Inc. (MCA) is a Texas non-profit corporation whose mission is
1. To educate and inform consumers on mortgage loans and procedures;
2. To give consumers ready access to complaint forms for legitimate dispute with a mortgage provider;
3. To give educators and academics tools and resources to inform, teach and research information on the mortgage industry, the lending process, credit, budgeting and credit reporting;
4. To give the media a source on credit, mortgage and industry news;
5. To help guide persons of low and moderate income or who are unemployed on dealing with creditors, budgeting, and;
6. To help persons of low and moderate income in educating and assisting them in restoring their credit and improving their FICO© scores, budgeting and obtaining credit.
An Advisory Board will assist Mortgage Consumer Advocates in providing this information and assist consumers, educators and the media who want added information on mortgage lending, credit reporting, budgeting, and credit restoration. Our advisers come from all fields both inside and outside the mortgage industry to better assist us.
For Consumers:
This site will help you learn and evaluate the many loan products available to you. It will list the pros and cons of each product and give you the basic qualifying guidelines for each product. This site will give you a pre-application section and home buying checklist that if used, will give you the opportunity to obtain a lower interest rate and have a smoother more enjoyable home buying experience. This section will also explain the mortgage lending steps and expected times for each step. We will also give you tips on what some lenders do to increase their profit at your expense. Finally, we will give you links, documents, and resources to file a complaint to regulators in the event you have been mistreated by a Mortgage Company.
We have ready access to budgeting tools and credit reporting information that might assist you in legally improving your credit rating. This of course takes time and paying your bills in a timely manner along with many other factors.
Finally, we will also educate you through seminars, webinars, e-brochures, videos and other means to help you learn about credit, budgeting, mortgage loans, and how to improve your chance of not only getting a good mortgage loan, but how to keep up the payments on your loan.
